Dress like Tyler the Creator
If there’s any musical act to bet on being huge this year it’s Odd Future. Hitting the mainstream with “Yonkers” last year and headed by Tyler, the Creator, they’ve released dozens of albums either for free online or for a price via a record label.
Here’s how to get Tyler the Creator’s style:
Supreme Hats: Tyler’s trademark. Normally found via their website but it’s currently down. You can get them used, on eBay, or at a store near you. (ranges from about $100-120 used, $145-160 new)
A Vintage Hawaiian or print short-sleeved button-up (yes, it’s a mouthful): Complex.com recommends Reyn Spooner, but you can have just as good of luck at a local thrift shop or consignment store.
Necklaces: Metal shell necklace ($4.99 via Urban Outfitters)
Knee-length shorts: Plain, flat front, no-frills available in six colors ($29.99 via Red Kap)
Canvas sneakers: Vans are a classic. Buy them in navy blue, off-white, green, or black. ($29.99-59.99)
Tall socks: American Apparel is a must. Get a white base with colored stripes. ($10.00 via American Apparel)
A black, navy, or brown backpack: See this post
Club Masters: ($145 via Ray-Ban)
Tie Dye Shit
and of course, Odd Future Merchandise

“Initially I was really pleased that all these people claimed that they wanted me released because I thought that translated into “they care.” So time progresses and the fan base gets bigger and the “Free Earl” chants get louder but now with the “Free Earl” chants come a barely indirect “Fuck Earl’s Mom” and in the blink of an eye my worry changes from “will there still be this hype when I get back” to “Oh shit I just inspired a widespread movement of people who are dedicated to the downfall of my mom.”

And the Game song featuring Tyler the Creator and sampling Kanye West, “Martians Vs Goblins“ has garnered a lot of controversy for homophobic verses dissing both Bruno Mars and Chris Brown.

“Oh look at me I’m Chris Brown, I got like 25 fucking body guards with me and shit but I’m the hardest n*gga on earth.” N*gga you’re a pop singer. But the n*gga do got money though, so I’m not hating.

TYLER: A lot of people think that stuff is deeper than it really is. Some people just think too much… I was like, “All right, fuck it. I’ll eat a cockroach, I’ll throw up, and then I’ll hang myself. It’s, like, no subliminal messages or secret meanings or anything. I just personally think the shit would look really cool, so I did it.

Waka’s new album The Ferrari Boyz with Gucci Mane is out this month. Tyler’s most recent work is a collaboration with Pusha-T entitled “Trouble On My Mind.”
